Local farmers from Banga and Balete, Aklan identify priority needs and develop solutions within the community during the Department of Science and Technology Aklan’s (DOST Aklan) Community Life Competence Process (CLCP) workshop.

The activity brought farmers from both municipalities of Banga and Balete, who were grouped together to better understand their community concerns. Utilizing the CLCP framework, the participants successfully developed tailored action plans aimed at reaching their collective goal.

Through the conduct of the CLCP workshop, the community was able to properly assess its situation and DOST Aklan gained valuable insight for designing relevant and effective science and technology (S&T) interventions.

As part of its commitment to providing gender-responsive services, DOST Aklan also integrated an orientation on Gender and Development (GAD). This session tackled common gender stereotypes and misconceptions and gender-based division of labor.

Furthermore, participants were briefed on the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program, DOST’s initiative for uplifting marginalized communities through S&T support.

Activities like CLCP highlight DOST’s continuous and targeted efforts to support and empower local communities and promote inclusive development through science, technology, and innovation. (VMMPoncedeLeon, MDVillanueva/DOST Aklan)
