The Department of Science and Technology’s Scholar Technopreneurship Training Program (STTP) in Western Visayas has commenced its third bootcamp session today, September 14, at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICon).
This intensive training program aims to equip young, aspiring researcher-entrepreneurs with the skills needed to transform their ideas into viable and marketable technologies. Over the next two days, participants will delve into essential topics such as how to bring tech to society, how to develop negotiation and collaboration skills, and how to strengthen teamwork.
101 DOST scholars from Western Visayas are participating in this cycle of the STTP, forming 15 teams to develop pitch decks for their tech products. Two more bootcamps are scheduled for October, culminating in a “Demo Day”, their final pitch in November 2024.
The STTP is a five-month program modeled after Japanese deep-tech startups. By combining research and technology with business acumen, the program seeks to foster a new generation of science scholars who can successfully integrate their innovations into society.
Spearheaded by DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI), DOST VI, and Leave a Nest Philippines, the STTP provides scholars with the knowledge and necessary skills to start, manage, and sustain a technology-driven business. (NABFactuar/DOST VI-KMO)
