Food producers in Capiz train for workplace efficiency, productivity
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) VI Capiz Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO) kicked off its training initiatives for the year 2024 with a 5S Good Housekeeping Program training for the food industry.
Twenty-four (24) eager micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the Capiz Integrated Food Producers Association (CIFPA) participated in the training discussions led by Ms. Mia C. Pielago, Senior Science Research Specialist from Capiz PSTO.
The discussions covered the principles and practices of the 5S that can be applied in food processing facilities. From understanding the core principles of Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S) to applying them in practical scenarios, participants learned practical tools to achieve a cleaner, more organized, and more efficient workplace. The training methodology incorporated a blend of lectures, exercises and workshops to foster active participation and peer learning.
Participants left the training with a better understanding on workplace efficiency and productivity. Equipped with new skills and empowered to become 5S champions, they are ready to lead positive change within their workplaces.(MCPielago/CapizPSTO)
