Two calamansi producing and processing firms in Guimaras and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sibunag, Guimaras inked Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) to signify the officiality of the deals they made with the Department of Science and Technology VI (DOST VI) to avail of technical assistance.

The two firms, Charmshyneclexane Calamansi Juice Manufacturing (CSC) and McNester Food Products, are now confirmed beneficiaries of the Innovations for Filipinos Working Distantly from the Philippines (iFWD PH) program and the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program 4.0 Innovation-Enabling Fund (SETUP 4.0-iFund) respectively. LGU Sibunag, on the other hand, signified to continue the partnership with DOST VI through implementing Phase 2 of its Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) Program.

CSC and McNester Food Products will undergo DOST projects dubbed “Product and Process Improvement for a Calamansi Juice Processing” and “Product and Process Improvement for a Calamansi-based Processing Facility” respectively and which will involve the provision of funding assistance for equipment that can improve production and packaging, and laboratory testing for product Nutrition Facts and Shelf-life analyses.

Meanwhile, LGU Sibunag signed for the project called “Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology in the Municipality of Sibunag Phase 2” wherein science and technology (S&T) interventions would be delivered to address the five (5) CEST components: Economic Development/Livelihood Opportunities, Human Resource Development, Health and Nutrition, and Environmental Protection and Conservation.
