Project SIGNAL begins stakeholder orientations for full project roll-out

The Department of Science and Technology Region VI’s (DOST VI) Disaster Risk Reduction Management Unit (DRRMU) begins stakeholder orientations in preparation for full roll-out of the Strategic Incident Georeferencing for Nationwide Alertness or Project SIGNAL in Western Visayas.

To prepare for the conduct of trainings for police offices throughout Region VI, including provincial police offices and city police offices, the orientations kicked off with a small group orientation headed by DRRMU Head Ryan Vilmor J. Dumpit, Project Assistant (PA) II Vince M. Carreon, and Computer Programmer I Ian Paul Jocsing. The DOST VI DRRMU team cooperated with Civil Defense Officer Rogen C. Malagad and Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Regional Director PBGen. Flynn E. Dongbo and Regional Information and Communications Technology Management (RICTM) Deputy PLCol. Randy T. Palpara.

Joining them were the rest of the RICTM Division, Regional Operations Division (ROD), and the Regional Community Affairs Development Division (RCADD).

This was followed by two bigger face-to-face orientations with the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO). Also joining them were the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (Iloilo City CDRRMO) and its Municipal counterparts respectively.

Additionally, DOST VI and PRO 6 are set to conduct orientations to the remaining provinces and Highly Urbanized City (HUC) in the region through the funding support of OCD 6. The pilot testing of the Project SIGNAL online system is also now ongoing.
